  • Animations: How long till you turn them off?

It took me all of 2 weeks to get tired of the animations for Civ 3. How long do you think the average player will leave them in in Civ 4? How many will actually have to have them turned off in order for them to get Civ 4 running on their machine?

    Why turn them off?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

It makes turns take longer in the later stages.

I hardly ever turn off things like that in games.

Music, animations, and movies all stay on for me.

Music get's turned off ASAP, but animations will probably stay on forever
This space is empty... or is it?

I usually turn music off from the beginning too. Whether or not i disable the animations, depends on how much they "disturb" the flow of the game..

I've never turned off animations, too much fun.

Now, Wonder movies, those will probably get
turned off after two weeks to a month, depending
on how many games I've played in that time.
So probably after a dozen games or so...

Never - I love all that stuff. Ill turn off music though as I tend to listen to Radio 4 while playing.

Probably same here, unless they do not take ages and do not affect the length of AI turns.

I will leave on wonder movies as well, I always did so (not in Civ3 obviously... ), because I feel that I deserved them by building the wonder. I loved to lean back and enjoy the reward for my achievement for a moment. And if on rare occasions I didn't want to watch the movie, there was always a button like space or escape to interrupt it and skip the rest. I'm sure this will be the case in Civ4 too.

Well, my current video card, R9200, propably forces me to turn of the animations rather quickly...
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

Grid on and off, depending on how well I can visualize the underlying grid without it being on. Probably on given the looks of the graphics.
