It took me all of 2 weeks to get tired of the animations for Civ 3. How long do you think the average player will leave them in in Civ 4? How many will actually have to have them turned off in order for them to get Civ 4 running on their machine?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
Now, Wonder movies, those will probably get
turned off after two weeks to a month, depending
on how many games I've played in that time.
So probably after a dozen games or so...

Never - I love all that stuff. Ill turn off music though as I tend to listen to Radio 4 while playing.

I do not live in London, I live in South London. South London is different, a warm melting pot where everyone can become a bona fide South Londoner by virtue of two things. One: living in South London, and two: having no aspiration to live in the Cotswolds.
I will leave on wonder movies as well, I always did so (not in Civ3 obviously... ), because I feel that I deserved them by building the wonder. I loved to lean back and enjoy the reward for my achievement for a moment. And if on rare occasions I didn't want to watch the movie, there was always a button like space or escape to interrupt it and skip the rest. I'm sure this will be the case in Civ4 too.
Music-Off
Animations-Off
Wonder Movies-Off after 1st time seeing them
Grid on and off, depending on how well I can visualize the underlying grid without it being on. Probably on given the looks of the graphics.
