    Video Card question

    I have been eagerly awaiting Civ4 for a while now and just recently realized that my laptop may not meet the requirements . I have been looking around these forums for a while now trying to figure out whether my 32MB video card will run the game. I went onto the online sysreq tester which said i passed the min requirements but then i heard that the reqs on the website were not updated.
    I downloaded the aoe3 trial to see whether that would run on my laptop. when i tried to run it, it said i failed the min reqs but i was still able to play it with the settings turned way down. I need to know whether you guys think I should go for Civ 4 or not?

    What is your video card?

    32mb is not technically enough, but that's not the key factor - you can probably run with 32mb, just slooow. The hardware T&L is the important part.

      i have an nvidia Geforce FX Go5200 with direct x 9. i dont know how to see whether i have T&L.

        Hm. I have a 5200 as well, although not the laptop version. Mine is adequate-but-not-fantastic for the game ... so yours probably is.

        Go to www.nvidia.com and look at the specs for your card

          so according to the nvidia website, my card does support T&L. I think that means i should be able to run civ 4- barely!!

            Hi I just purchased Civ4 and am trying to run it on my laptop. All my system requirements are met except for the T&L. The game runs fine so far, except one HUGE problem. There are no fonts showing up. This is from the very first screen after the game is launched, where I would choose my type of game from what I'm assuming is the Main Menu? I have a Trident CyberALADDIN-P4. If T&L is the problem, is there any workaround for this? Thanks a bunch!

              I tried it on a laptop with an ATI Radeon 350M with 32MB video RAM

              It runs but even on the lowest graphics quality I get a black map and other leaders show up with no faces.

              Other than that - perfect
