  • The Civ4 dictionary

Let's guess what words and phrases will become part of the Civ lexicon.

    Great Person = GP

As in 'I lost three GPs when that transport sank '.

    Great Person Production = GPP

As in 'And then I got the Observatory... combined with the Colossus, it sent my GPP through the roof.'

No doubt there will be tricks/exploits to find... hopefully not too many of the latter.

GP-Hoarding: Keeping all your GPs until a suitable time to 'unleash' them: at the cusp of industrialisation, for example.

Trade-convert: If my understanding is correct, opening up to trade means also opening up to missionaries. Could it be exploited? Maybe.

As in 'I managed to trade-convert Babylon to Taoism. I negotiated an open-border deal, and then unleashed the twelve missionaries I had waiting next to the border.'

Promotion whoring: Taking warrior civics and conducting policies which will result in getting a lot of promoted units, and then selling them to the AI. Becomes promotion scamming if you deliberately sell promoted units which are useless - desert warriors to a grassland civ, for example. The AI won't know the difference.

Hmm... I suppose you could buy promoted units as well. A wealthy, advanced, civ goes out and purchases primitive promoted units from a backward civ, and then upgrades them into a fearsome fighting machine. Like the Ghurkas. That would rock.

Mega City Syndrome = MGS: Having gone too far to combat ICS, the problem is now inverted...

    Anyone else got any ideas?

I suggest changing Promotion Whoring to Prom Night.
Must have a special ring for our USA counterparts.

Isn't there a sort of school dance night anymore for adolescents?

Might be that I'm getting old.

He's saying that proper women should go on promanades about the park without a proper chaperone. Oh my! *faints*

No, He's making a reference to how sexual intercourse has been a tradition to couples after leaving their "Prom" dances.

Accually I don't rightly know about that, Its what I gathered from watching American Television.

                one problem though,
you can't sell units. only give them away as gifts.

break down the GP as follows:

                  Great Prophet=Gp
                  Great Artist=GA
                  Great Engineer=GE
                  Great Scientist=GS
anti steam and proud of it

Could we redefine "GPP" to be: "Great Person/People Points" instead? Thanks.

Why? Can you only have one GP at a time? Why not use them up and store the GP until you need em. You can generate more points already.

No, that's Grade Point Average, something which will be suffering in direction relation to increased playtime.

TPD- Turns Per Day is directly proportional to decreased GPA!
