The most acclaimed strategy game of all time...returns to the PC.
    Not...

The most acclaimed strategy game of all time...returns to the PC and XBOX 360, with the interface and gameplay slaughtered to work with both.
THANK YOU! With Oblivion jumping on the console bandwagon, the PC version's interface will suffer, so I'm glad Civilization is staying at it's roots. Less Deus Ex 2's please.

Not sure I get the point exactly? You are glad Civ4 won't come to an Xbox 360 near you, or are there something more to it?

I'm glad nothing is being sacrificed for the console version, which is certainly guaranteed by the fact that one doesn't exist.

IIRC, the original Civilization game was also released on the Super Nintendo or the Sega Genesis or something like that. So it wouldn't be "the end of the franchise" or anything, since it's happened before. As long as they don't compromise the gameplay for a console--which they won't. They know their target audience.

According to GameSpy (http://search.gamespy.com/my/sb?page...zation&x=0&y=0), Civ1 was released for the SNES, the Playstation, and the Amiga (I don't even remember what an Amiga was), while Civ2 was also put out for Playstation.

It was released on those consoles after the original release. It was designed for the PC, and thus there was no dumbing down to fit a console.

                Paradox Interactive indeed.
PE got split up some time ago. What you refer to is probably the comapny that made EU2, Victoria etc.

                  You don't remember the Amiga?

It was kinda like the PC, most mostly just used for gaming, but it also had paint and animation (both 2D and 3D) apps

I played Civ1 on the Amiga, I remember spending lots of time swapping disks (I had no HD, but could be bought extra)
This space is empty... or is it?

Hehe! I hear that! I used to have an XBox, a PS2, and a GameCube... Sold them all. The main problem was that I couldn't get anything for them that staisfied my craving for strategy. I have also converted from Mac to Windows in order to dive into what seemed a wealth of strategy gaming titles. I have been able to try quite a few PC games since then, but Civ IV is really THE one I've been waiting for!!!

                      So hurray for the PC!

Memories indeed... My school had an Amiga 1000 (IIRC) and I spent many fun hours creating a 2D animation of a giant foot skwishing a little bird! Ah, to be 14 again...

And then there was this game called History Line... it had 7 disks

For some reason most of the disks was never used though

But it helped a lot when I got an extra disk drive so I didn't have to swap disks whenever a fight was going on
