WOW is the best game since SMAC. I'm hoping Civ IV is the best game since WOW.

I buy about 20-30 games a year. (Been a gamer since the PONG days) Only rarely do I play one for more than 2 weeks. (Been playing WOW for 9 months now. Same with SMAC, if you add up all the time I've played it total.) Civ IV looks like the next game that will get me to do that. The better the game the fewer I buy and the more money I save for other things in my entertainment budget, which is about $100 a month.

Edit: Even paying $15 a month for WOW, I've played it so much that it's actually been saving me money. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to have this sweet $50 gaming mouse. (Logitech x518). Been buying fewer games this year.

I'm still debating whether to pre-order at EBgames AND Gamestop and cancel the one who calls me 2nd.

If you don't pay money up front that might be good.

I usually get it faster online because fewer and fewer retailers in my area have a decent PC games selection. I flat out refuse to go to wal-Fart unless I have no choice. Last time I got a game there was to get World of Warcraft because it was sold out everywhere else.

When I got Doom3 at the local EB they had to drive it over from another, 2 miles further away local EB, which took quite a while. They wouldn't let me get it from the other EB, because I preordered it from them, which was frustrating. (Only preorders got the game that day.)

                Perfect.
Go to work now and even when starting to heal, pretend your still sick as hell, your boss wll be mighty impressed and even when you do "give up" and stay home he won't think less of you.

                  excellent move!

Have begun neglecting my wife early, so she doesn't blame the game when I start playing it.

Not much to be done for me, only one position

                      - Step down from all guild offices in Everquest II and cancel both accounts. This is already done, although it had nothing to do with Civ4, but rather with an unfinished and buggy beyond belief expansion pack (I honestly mean Desert of Flames, not Conquests ) and a combat revamp with the same quality standards

I will stay in Guild Wars however and share my time with Civ4. I don't know how this will work, we'll see.

My system is 8 months old, has 1GB and a 6600 and hence, should be sufficient for Civ4 by all means.

Finally gave up on EQII Huh Sir Ralph? I gave up last summer.

I didn't have the time anymore, anyway.

I preordered finaly yesterday and told my boss that my day off of work maybe tuesday and maybe wednesday, depending upon when the local EB gets it.

I got to level 50 paladin, level 50 weaponsmith around July and would have stayed in the game (even more as co-leader of a large guild), had SOE not released and absolutely awful, buggy and unfinished expansion pack in September along with a combat revamp, that broke more than it fixed. I may resubscribe next year, when I hear that SOE fixed what it broke.

I took two days off work and just cancelled WOW today. I wasn't playing much WOW anyhow because of a lack of big-chunk free time.

Civ games have always been the best type for me... Turn based strategy that you can walk away from when a wife or daughter calls/crys/talks/complains/demands/hugs/kisses/etc.

My PC is in good shape.
