  • cruise missiles?

There was a screen shot which I cannot find of the civilipedia which would indicate if cruise missiles are in the game or not... does anyone know what screen shot I'm talking about?

I'm really hoping they are in, and that you can at least carry those in subs since you cannot carry nukes

And I hope cruise missiles will destroy ships instead of just hurting them like first build of Civ 3 IIRC

You mean this one probably, from the civfanatics.com nuclear weapons preview:

I'm also VERY sad about the abscence of cruise missiles. But there's going to be a mod soon after release i guess. If not, i'm making one myself.

      Yeah that's the shot!

      Aww, no cruisies ....

Yeah I guess I'll be looking forward to a cruise missile mod then.

They are probably my favorite units in any civ series tbh. The ability to defend your coast with them and pick off hard to reach targets is invaluable

Something which shouldn´t pose a problem if implemented correctly.
Just treat them like bomber and fighter units in Civ III, which special orders to relocate them (to another launch base) or to bombard (which, unlike in bombers of course could be done only once for each cruise missile ).
This way you´d have to see the enemy to bombard him.

That was a civ2 exploit. Yes, with the bombardment implementation of artillery, that was not an issue in civ3

My point is that the more units, the more interactions, the more potential for these type of exploits. It goes with the territory.

                  That was an ICBM!

It looks kinda funny with those huge, exaggerated fins on it...

But the ICBM in the nuke preview looks different. We do know that the information on the Civ 4 website is old, though.

Em, I seem to recall, that the Tactical Nuke was removed, this was mentioned in civfanatics article about nukes... Is cruise missile removed aswell, or is this a misunderstanding?

Just look at the screenshot above. Unless the cruise missile has changed names, it is missing on the list.

I wondered if I was the only one that solved the question of whether cruise missiles were in by looking at the ICBM screen shot, but not actually looking at the big phallic image in the middle!
