It will depend on what sort of game you want to play... if you're into epic games, expect a 40+ min install time.

What does Epic mode have to do with install time? I thought the OP meant how long it would take to install the game for the first time.

I just hope it installs OK. My original copy of civ3 used to hang at 83% (IIRC). VERY annoying.

The anticipation for civ3 was significant, but this time it seems worse... Civ4 looks so good I can't imagine playing anything else. Just hope it lives up to our expectations.

This depends on the system of each one. Anyway, i have a rather powerful machine fruit of my hard work, so i expect to install in in less than 10 minutes. Anyway, what i do is to put the CD in, press Next, grab a newspaper and go to poo. That will keep me busy for about 20 minutes.
