Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
Yep lots of other threads about this, the bottomline is if you played Pirates and it worked it will work for CIV IV seems to be the latest reigning opinion.
If not I guess you will have to wait till Firaxis tells us.

For those concerned about the requirements, you may want to consider the different areas involved in how well a game will play. For some people, you can upgrade these components, for others you may not.
CPU/Processor: Since this isn't a real-time strategy game and will be turn-based, you probably won't have a problem with game play, but you may find it takes a LONG time for each turn to play out if your CPU is sub-standard. Also, if your video card/GPU is slow or doesn't have DirectX 9 acceleration on the card(you can run DX 9 but the video card doesn't accelerate all the functions), you will need a faster CPU to compensate. Lowering all video options to disable most features will help with this, but the game won't look as nice.
Video Card: Unlike previous Civ games, this one uses a 3D engine to display what is going on within the game. That's why some machines are failing the video card check for abilities. Those with integrated video MAY run into problems here. If your machine is a desktop machine with an AGP or PCI Express slot, you can upgrade your video card to make the game run better. If you have a desktop without one of the listed slot types or a laptop, you can't upgrade the video so you are locked in here. Desktop machines CAN accept PCI video cards, but considering the poor performance of the ANCIENT PCI slot compared to AGP(also fairly ancient but without replacement until recently), it's probably a better choice to just replace the machine than to get a PCI video card.
Memory: This is something that not enough people understand. If Windows XP by itself takes between 80 and 150 megs of memory without ANY 3rd party software, add an anti-virus program and you can easily be using over 256 megs of memory without even running a game. As a result, you want at least 512 megs of memory in your computer these days to play games, 1 gig(1024 megs) of memory or more is recomended for those wanting to play a game. Unless your computer is REALLY old, you should be able to upgrade a desktop or laptop to 512 megs of memory, if not a full gig of memory. If you have below 256 megs of memory, then you really should upgrade your memory before Civ 4 comes out. The more complex a game is, the more memory it will take as well because of all the features and complexity of the program.
