  • Statistics in Civ IV?

How will the statistics in Civ IV compare to Civ III? Will there be more statistics or less? One fear I have is that firaxis, in their quest to make Civ IV more easy, have removed lots of intresting and good statistics.

For example, will there be a demographics screen? Will it be possible to rank cities based on different criteria, such as food / production / size / culture / etc. Will there be a nice military overview, such as the one in Civ III? Will it be possible to see income and expenditures, so you can see where your money is going - as you could in civ III? Overall what I want is lots of numbers on everything - so I can easily overview progress and shape of my empire. I really hope this is possible in Civ IV, but I am worried...

If they're not there, it would be a good early mod to include them. I'm addicted to the informative menus attached to the function keys.

There is a so called "speaking silence" from the beta testers.

      ..which probably means bad news..

I wouldn't miss the statistical information much because it didn't seem like there was that close a connection between the numbers and how I played the game. If they were more meaningful, then I might care, but in previous Civilization versions, they were just trivia.

In case you missed it in your thread, they sign non-disclosure agreements, they can't speak. Mark and Solver have received permission from Firaxis to preview the game.

I did not miss that. However, it seemes as if when they have something positive to reply to a question, they can do it (check for example the preview threads, or my question on resolution). If there was going to be lots of statistics in civ IV, I bet they would have said something such as "there is more statistics in c4 than you need" or "I think you will be happy", "its better than Civ III", etc..

But of course, the silence does not necessarily mean that there wont be lots and lots of statistics, even if thats my feeling (esp. after all the talk of making civ easier, etc)..

Solver's done only one part of his preview, statistics can wait until part 3. The pressing questions are about the new religion system, the new combat model, and civics among other things.

For these I've seen screenshots, so they're in.

ooo. Where can one find these? Are there any archive with all published screenshots anywhere?

It have been far too many previews for me to remember where I saw them originally, but CFC's gallery has a sizeable collection of screens from Civ4, e.g. the demographics screen . Keep in mind, that those shots are mostly from earlier builds, so most likely the depicted functionalities have been improved in the meantime.

I looked around a bit on civfanatics and found a huge screenshot collection. I found some related to statistics, and links to those here, in case others are intrested too:

                        http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/s....php?i=548&c=2 ()

And the screenshot of the religion advisory in solvers preview:

The last advisory screen seemes more bugfree than the others, my guess is that all of them will look more or less like the last one in the final game Its looking great! The new more modern blue interface looks great! Much better than the classic brown booring wooden type interface.

Now the only thing that seemes to be bad with Civ IV compared to the other Civs is that it wont have this:

(it gave a nice educational feel to the game)

I think the third screen from ml_4da3's list should relieve any worries.
