I do like the small villages between the actual cities (see first screenshot) if that is what they are off course.
it may be superficial but it adds to the reality of the game

I'm not too fond of the 'throne room' but hey that is just marginally important

All in all, those screenies look much better than before.

Does it mean that Fraxis really re-scaled the units, or you just can pick an option to size, say "large", "very large" "humongous!"?

you mean in the options menu?

in the actual files you just move the numbers around.

err... on second thought, i think i can figure it out

Perhaps it indicates if a unit has spent his turn or not ?

How much we see of them and during what periods of the game remains to be seen.

Teh used in this context has an emphasising function.

Am I the only one disappointed by these screenshots? With the release date appoaching, I was really hoping that the graphics we'd seen so far were placeholders but it doesn't look to be the case...

The roads look positively amateurish, the trees look like they've been cut/pasted onto arbitrary terrain... okay, a few buildings look okay, but compared to games like Age of Empires/Rise of Legends, these look pretty dire.

Please - no comments about how it's gameplay that matters; everyone knows that but there's not a single reason why you wouldn't want to have both (and have enough options to allow low-end machines to run it). A film director doesn't decide to cast a bunch of jokers as soon as he's got a great script - its all about the complete package!

Very disappointed with these latest screenies...

Civilization might not be a fast-moving game like Doom3 or something, but it's possible that the screenshots are insufficient to convey the game as played. They may also be showing the game with lower graphics settings than are possible so as not to disappoint people with older graphics cards.
