That means that its European release should neatly coincide with the release date in Australia!!! If this is the case, then shouldn't we now be seeing previews and developers diaries on an almost weekly-nay daily-basis? After all, with only another 2.5 months (63 days) left til the US release, they should be 'hyping it to the moon and back' !
Oh and, btw, I am counting on all of you State-side people to give some honest reviews of the game between November and December, 'cause I will be using your comments as a guide to my own purchasing decisions!!

    Yours,
    Aussie_Lurker.

I have seen more and more shops say November 17th, so I think it's a pretty good bet to expect it to come around that date.

It's enforced by the publisher, as for DVD movie Region locked, etc.
Sometime is quite difficult to buy the original USA version or english international version, ever if the game is already released in the country (here in Italy, at least).

Any local distributor and reseller isn't happy to spend time and money translating and advertising the game, then to lose money on "parallel and unauthorized" import.
Free trade seems a strange concept, sometime, also between USA and European Union.
Better to take this into account when tuning "free market civic" game effect.

The only solution would be to let a buddy in the US buy the game and have him mail it. But that can take up to two weeks with regular mail (and that's assuming customs don't give you trouble), at which time the game's probably out in Europe as well.

It was about 2-3 weeks later than in the US, for most of Europe.

This is true for South America, too. At least in Brazil.

Only children's games are translated in Norway thankfully...

The same problem is here in DK too

Then they should do the smart thing: Do NOT waste time and money translating a game into a language nobody wants to play the game in anyway... and the worst part is that they force you to play the game that way (or at least often they do)

Why is there a difference in this from Denmark to Norway?

Of course it's not all games that gets translated, but for each year that passes by the percentage of translated games goes up
It's not a large number yet, but so far they have done this to quite a few non-childrens games

Don't forget the Sims 1 and 2. Those game were translated, but I have no idea why.

That is why if it is not released here simultaneously, I will 'acquire' it in the meantime...

Yeah, the Sims were translated, but one could choose whether to use Norwegian or English or a few other languages.

This is clearly why America is the best country in the world

yeah, we're too lazy to learn other languages so we make other people learn ours

What's really sad is most of the people on this board have better grammer than most American students.

Today I also went to EB Games (in Essen) and they mentioned an even earlier date,
                              i.e. 11/05

So either the the Stores in Germany get the game before the stores in USA (well, somehow improbable I think )
or the EB Game stores in different countries have different informations about releasedates (IMHO also improbable as they AFAIK tap into the same information network)
or the Beta-Tests are so successful that Firaxis thinks about releasing the game eralier than expected
(well, if you take in to account that important persons at Firaxis like Breitkreutz and Sorenson now have time to undertake work outings to Game Fora like Apolyton, this third possibility seems probable )
