Why I have a low opnion of Civ III? Remeber that Civ II was the best game ever. Well at that time for most people it was. Civ III was way over hyped saying it would be better than Civ II and clearly it wasn't. With Civ II I spent many sleepless nights playing the game with only 2 hour or less sleep.

Also I bought the collerctors tin edtion wich was a complete bust. Didn't get the multiplayer that was suppose to be included, had to buy it in an ex pac.

They promised things wich were not included in the Civ III and over hyped the Collectors Tin edtion, that is why I have a low opnion of Civ III out of the box.

Civ IV does look promising and I don't see any real promises being made this time like for Civ III so that is good. I am glad the graphics aren't awsome(I know I complained about it at first then got thinking, I don't want awsome graphics, just good game play.) and hopefully all the game play will keep me up playing, having that ONE MORE TURN FEELING again wich I lost in Civ III.

I have considered installing Civ2 just because of the advisors
yeah I do miss the military advisor.

      I'm saddened they aren't including them in civ4 .

let's go bonk some heads sir.

damn, I'm almost tempted to reinstall civ2 again. .

I wish there was a mod that could put them in civ3 or civ4.

I still have my Collectors Tin in good use. That was the "I am willing to pay extra for Civ just out of gratitude, and the tin is what I am getting in exchange for my appreciation" edition.

With my occasional binges, Civ3 had so much just-one-more-turn feeling that I struggled with getting enough sleep for 3-1/2 years!

MUCH better than Civ2, despite my also binging on that game.

Indeed, Pirates! was great out of the box, as was Sid Meier's Gettysburg! and Sim Golf (great in the sense of being complete and working, not necessarily the bestest of concepts).
See what happens when you make a bad game out of the box. Some people, or just me, don't bother with the company again when they put out other games. I missed out on some good games from what I just read, so how many others like me did the same? Point I am making is you make ONE bad game and you can suffer.

I think I will have to check out the game pirates. Is that the one that is for xbox?

yolky: you weren't interested in cIV before? then why all the forum posts about the game?

Anyways, to comment on the hicjacked thread topic, I didn't go for civ3 because there did not exist the level of support for scenario creators that exists in Civ2.

Why all the posts? Because I loved Civ I and Civ II, it's in my blood, Civ III was a bad taste. When I saw an article on GameSpot I thought I would check it out, opnion is changing and hopefully I will be wrong, but burned before you tend to be more cautous.

Aye I'm also started to want to install CivII again. Might do it in fact tonight.

So looking forward to cIV. Should be awesome. Hopefully be released over here in time for the summer holidays (is it expected well before Xmas?) Can't think of anything better than working and playing cIV (well not working and just playing cIV but I do have to live afterall).

DON'T INSTALL CIV II. You might get too addicted again and not like Civ IV or see how different the game play will be and you might get upset. eg, spend 45 turns to build a wonder of a world and someone beats you to it and you loose all your production points, you might not get use to the new game style Civ IV should be.
