Am I still excited about the game? I'm more excited than I was 3 months ago

The graphics look good and fresh.
The updates to old game mechanics look good.

I don't see any reason to believe that this game may suck. Of course there will be issues. There always will be.

        Still very excited here.

I am not impressed with the graphics so far. The mountians look like they were in Civ III, just rolling hills. The trees look like tiny dung balls, not a forest at all.

What is this Rise of Nations? You get 3 men in a unit?

Graphics, I don't care. At all. As long as I can tell units and terrain types apart, I don't care if they're ugly or not. Besides, I think Civ4 graphics are good looking. Quite a fresh look, surely nothing spectacular, but that's good.

3 men in a unit, which I assume is just the hitpoint representation, as it was in RoN, is not a problem.

However, we know that Civ4 has MP support, very good modding capabilities, that attention has been paid to the trade system, that the new maintenance will apparently kill "settler spam"... provided that good work is done on the AI, I don't see what's wrong with the game.

My point is that would be a blantant copy of anthour game, wich CIV started the original game. Why would you have to copy anthour game? I never played RoN so don't know how that would work out, but my point is, if Civ IV has to copy anthour game to be good, how good can the game really be?

Using an idea isn't anywhere near the same as copying a game. Anyway, 3 man units isn't something that nobody else would ever think of...

So you're saying that you don't like when a game copy a good idea from another game?

Yolky must find it hard to live in a world so imperfect. If these matters he brings to us are what bothers him about Civ4, its lucky that no two snowflakes are identical. That would just be plaguarism.

However, god makes blatant copies of human beings in the case of twins. Why would he want to copy another human? If god has to copy another human, how good can that really be?

I'm interested in Civ4. But I'm not planning on rushing out to buy it. Now, X3, that I will be eagerly awaiting. Galactic Civilization 2, that I've already bought, and will get all through its betas until release, and then all the updates!

Civ4? I don't think it will be the disaster that MoO3 was. If they kept to the core of Civ, I'll find it to be an okay game. If they have advanced the game play significantly in a way that is fun to me, then it may find a permanent home on my hard-drive. Just as ToT and SMACX each have.
                    TOT? Test of Time?

I never cared for that expansion. One of the few civ games I bought, I have never played.

there have been quite a few civ2 scenarios that have been made that feature multiple person units, and it isn't just recently either.

                        Looking forward to it.

I have enjoyed all the CIV versions as they came out and occassionally still play both CIV3 and CIV2.

Occasionally-that´s the point. We all played SMAC a lot more than civ3

I played Civ3 a lot more than SMAC, but I think I spent much more time on Civ1 than on any other.

Well, usually spending a lot of time on the first of a series always spoils fun from the next ones

I only played SMAC a handful of times before it went back on my shelf for good. I couldn't even guess at the number of games of Civ2 I've played. Maybe I haven't played 3 as much as 2, but certainly a heck of a lot more than SMAC
