@Wise Ass: As to why bother, I agree with whoever said the bit about them trying to recover their image after civ3. From the sounds of it this game will incorporate most but not all the most popular features of Civ, SMAC, and CTP.
    And that's good, right?

Ok. Please send the $50 my way and I'll mail you my copy. I never play it anyway. It doesn't have the depth, personality and mystique of Civ III and Civ IV will just so so much better than either!

How about the piss-poor SMAC AI, huh? How does that render it more "complex"? I'd take Civ3's AI over SMAC's any day of the week.
I assume you haven't ever bother to compare how much Civ3 AI cheats and how much the SMACX one does.
I've played both of the games and modded both.

I took Civ3 bonuses and put them into SMAC AI.
Needless to say, I had problems beating it (I actually lost the game) and Im not any newbie (ask in SMACX forums).

Any veteran (=real good player) Civ3er remembers being beaten by AI 1on1 on Deity? (and Im not talking about the time you first played it)

well that depends on two things, first that they didn't bite off more than they could chew, and second they didn't take the worst of all three.

Lets just keep it simple people: Civ rocks. For them to decide NOT to make another installment would be insanity. Thats just about how simple it is. Civ is Awesome. They are Gods among men for making Civ and for continuing its greatness for us.

thats because civ3 ai plays in a piss-poor game just to give the illusion of strength. 'Beyond Sid' and some other famous games in civ3 would not be possible at all in smac by a long shot.
