I'm feeling positive about this game. Moreso than Civ3. When I first heard that was announced, I was skeptical. I believe civ3 came out after Call to Power. Which I never bought, but I knew I wouldn't like it (I did buy CTP2 and didn't like it). And I knew the company shakeup would be bad for the game. It was still a fun game, but I was hoping for more of an improvement over civ2. Some things were just civ2 concepts that were made to look better. Such as armies that are really just one unit attacking after another with a bonus (25% bonus I believe), with the bonus of not losing those units unless all 3 (or 4) of them die. But they are essentually 1 unit attacking after the other just like in civ2.
I still haven't read all the deatils about the combat model in this game. but I have high hopes for it.
While combat isn't all civ is about (at least not for me). It does play an important part of games.
