Fine, suit yourself. I checked with my local retailer if I could pre-order it. I couldn´t, they hadn´t got a release date yet.

I'd like to see the date from my local retailer first.
If he has a piece of paper from the distributor with a date on it .. I'll believe that.. what I don't believe is that all kinds of retailers or browsing all gaming sites all day to adjust release dates based on speculation.
Its more useful to check here than elsewhere, afterall some of the people here know more about the release date than any magazine or store.
I'll be back September 30th just so I can do this:
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)

argh, I wish I haven't started posting in this forum. Now I'm getting really juiced up for civ4. This is why I like to go in cold (or fresh- whichever term you prefer). I still haven't checked out any previews. As I've said, I don't like to do that. And I normally don't post in any forums until after the game is out. Why? Because this is what happens. Now I can't wait for the game.

I'm just going to have to play civ3. I was planning on going into Firaxus with a gun and demanding the game, but it's so far away. Civ3 will have to tide me over until civ4 comes out.

I'll play Civ IV in September. I can feel it in my bones...
You can pay a evil cracker or a greedy insider to download to you a beta copy. That' s not legal, so I discurage you.
You can buy enough share of Firaxis or Take2 and ask to check the current level of, ermm, "project advance" for financial audit reason. Kind of. May be this 's legal enough, but I'm not a lawyer, so don't take this as a professional advice.
You can build a damn time machine, go to the future far enough to buy a "budget" and patched copy of the fullgame, expansion included, go back to september and play it 'till you are flat on the floor.
That will probably destroy any timenet of the universe, and will end in total collapse of it, while every atom cease to exist, your bones included.
The resonance of the event probably is that feeling you have today on your bones, I bet, according to Chaos Theory I red once in a book.
But everything will be fine for you, because you'd played Civ IV in september, before every other of us, while we can't have a chance anymore because of universe collapse. Pure Evil Genius.
"We are reducing all the complexity of billions of people over 6000 years into a Civ box. Let me say: That's not only a PkZip effort....it's a real 'picture to Jpeg heavy loss in translation' kind of thing." - Admiral Naismith
