  • Soren, can you confirm on XML Graphics Scaling?

I'm looking at all of these very interesting video's and screenshots of CivIV and I keep wondering if the terrain/units/cities/... can be scaled?

And if you can also tell us, to what extent can the graphics be scaled to? (maximum and minimum).

If it can be scaled, the first thing I am going to do is scale it to a more realistic size. I thought at first this may not work because I would have to make the units quite small to compare with the mountains, but I noticed that when units go into battle, the camera zooms in and on an angle, so I figured scaling the units down would not be such a huge problem.

But the big question is, can the terrain itself be scaled? (Mountains, tree's, rivers, tiles, etc).

Just a side note for everyone at Apolyton; if the graphics can be scaled, you do realise that CivIV's graphical scope could be as deep as World of Warcraft.

pretty much every art asset has a scale value in xml that can be modded to whatever you like... units, buildings, trees, resources, improvements, etc...
    - What's that?
    - It's a cannon fuse.
    - What's it for?
    - It's for my cannon.

Whee, give us the Giant Trees and Tiny Units mod!

Actually, that could be fun, scaling terrain to be 4x the unit size...

Shrinking units seems like a good thing to do ...

That is how it should be. The Forest is defending them, you know.

But of course. You will not know, so how could any spy learn about them? The perfect ambush.
