This was from the thread...Great People - As the player uses specialists they gain Great People points in the city that is utilizing the specialists. Great People include the Artist, Tycoon, Prophet, Engineer, & Scientist. They can be used to get free techs, start Golden Ages, or join a city to increase its output.

It never hurts to have more than one source of info

I wrote everything in that section myself, I can assure you it wasn't there until I added it a few minutes ago (under the assumption you got it from the magazine).

Did you paraphrase it our directly quote it? Because it did (and still does) say that cities that specialize in a certain direction get certain Great People. But I never said it involved actual specialists (though that would make sense I guess) and I never mentioned Great People points.

While I joyfully applaud the inclusion of multiple great artists, traders, etc., I haven't heard any mention of great military leaders.

Units that achieve elite status through combat and whatnot probably play the same role as "great military leader," I think.

I believe those act more as heroes and fight wars. They normally do not act as initializers of Golden Ages.

Since there aren't going to be any armies in Civ IV, maybe they figured there's no point in having military leaders. I'll miss not having leaders pop-up occasionally from victorious units... ...or maybe I won't care.
