It was discussed already. It might even be in the Civ4 List. But I don't remember seeing it discussed for Civ4, while I remember that MOO3 got something included for that.
[Pathetic intro]
How many kids are forgotten at school and get picked up only hours later because their father was playing Civ? How many fishies die from hunger? How many relations broken, how many exams failed, etc etc? I know people who dealt with this physically, one of them having frisbied his CDs out the window to pass exams; so to many it's REAL.
[/Pathetic intro]
Maybe something OPTIONAL could exist. Like a clock, or (I like that) a countdown you yourself set and which will kick you out of the game in X minute "after the turn". And for extreme cases, even something set by the player to get Civ to auto-close "from Xh AM to Yh PM". Useless? Well this is to the player to decide, not me or others: and I know that some people benefited from throwing their CDs even when they could get them... 2 months later (in the wood... there's wood behind his house. Yeah yeah... I know he's nuts but he has excellent grades now).
This is not trivial, it could be an optional add-on found on the install disc or who cares what. Someone said to me that just a clock helped him (they added this from Apolyton demand in a MOO3 patch, no?). I'm sure that many would consider this as a truly good Civ4 feature.
