  • A pretty simple feature I would LOVE to see

How about an MSPaint style drawing tool that lets me mark up the map? I mean, when I'm planning out where my cities will go I would love to be able to just color in some tiles or outline the city so I know where to place the settler I'm sending out. There are other instances this would be helpful... make it visible to allies for coordinated attack plans, use it to denote temporary cities, mark a city that you want to do something with in a few turns so you don't forget... this should be reasonably simple to implement, and it would be a really cool little gadget that power-players would adore.

Awesome idea! This would help so much, as it would work also as a notepad feature, something someone suggested a little while a go. There are so many times when I've wanted to wait 2 turns to change the food/shield ratio and forgot it in about 20 secs, only to remember it when it's totally too late. I've also made strategic plans with Paint Shop Pro, which is neat, but slow. It would be like squashing 2 flys with the same hit.

BAH -- we don't need no kiddie-electronic crayons in this game.

So then, how do we go about suggesting this feature to the devs? Do they peruse this board regularly, or should we contact them more directly?

Well while from the standpoint of someone in front of his keyboard it seems easy for a dev to just listen and implement an idea, the other side of the medal is that they would have too much people to listen to. So don't think about contacting them more directly, since it is as useful as trying to do so for Microsoft's or Motorola's devs But they do come on these boards to give a look, even if I have no idea how often.

It's been asked several times before, I really hope we will get it this time, same goes for something like post-it notes.

Quite often. I see Soren's name on the active user list on a regular basis. He seems to be around often enough to read everything posted in this forum (Hi Soren! )

It's nice to have a game developer who listens to the fans...

Oh, and yes, I support the idea of markers, it's a nice and fun feature that I always use in those few games that have it.

I like the idea, it would make memory less important, a VERY nice thing in Long turn span PBEMs

Good Idea! I would like to mark squares, for new cities or workers jobs.

This would be a really neat feature indeed. But if you´re a real hardcore gamer you print out the map on your printer, put it on the wall and stick pins and flags in it to keep track of coming conquests and strategys
