  • Support for Democracy Games

I'm thinking that since DemoGames are almost as a hit as PBEM, Firaxis should seriously consider making several features for Civ IX that would support this.

    - Lock Game - an option to password lock saved games, so that players could open them and watch the current situation, but could not "play ahead" - meaning you lock and password protect the "end turn" button so only the president can play it.

    - Save Statistics as Text - instead of screenshooting each advisor screen - why not have an option to export them to simple text? Screenshots would remain necessary for "map" purposes. taking a screenshot of an advisor screen and then resizing it to fit 600x800 limitations is sucky.

    - Password protecting Hot Seat /PBEM - so that people won't cheat.

the password would be within the game file then, so sombody could just look through the code, or create a tool to find out the password, then you'd be buggered. waste of coding time

Are you saying Civ3 PBEMS are not passworded??

They are password protected, so I imagine Civ4 will have it as well.

However, so far as I know, they are not encrypted. Compressed, but not encrypted. If players want really tight security, would it be possible to actually scramble the file in such a way that it could only be read using the password?
