  • Question about the units

Will there also be the simple units like the tank or cannon like in civ 3 or will the units be like total annhilation?

It's a game that has 300 unit types.

First google hit I found on this had a review:

Total Annhilation has over 150 units to play with, but many of them are so alike another unit that the actual number of unique units is less than half the advertised amount. That's still a lot of units, but the wealth of units does more to confuse the player as to what he should be building than anything else.
I seems that too many units could be implemented badly. If the units are truly unique and it's not information overload, it could work. I like complexity - so I'm not automatically against it.

With both expansions it totals over 300. And I really mind about the units. I can't take the civ 3 tanks and infantry or catapult.

Is that for real or is a joke?

                TA is a RTS game.

Most likely Civ4 will have similar units to Civ3. I like lots of units as long as they each fill a specific niche and have a purpose. I mean why have a red cannon with 6.1.1 50, and a blue cannon with 7.1.1 60, and a green cannon at 5.2.1 50, etc.

Many different units?... Do-able easily without the big mess.

Gun powder tech + possibility to research gun powder upgrade 1-2-3. Or research the next tech directly. This is just as it is with all techs: upgradable, just as a F14 is being "different" than SU27.

Easy, it brings something, and it's no big mess. Now this doesn't mean it would ever make it to cIV
