It's basically a good game and it's more than decent value for money.
In fact, it's probably the cheapest "hobby" out there.

1 and 2, although it's not really completely accurate. I have all the earlier versions, but I got Civ1 as abadonware and Civ2 through some special offer an abadonware site had got with the dev/publisher/something.

I will buy it if and when it is a good game (and so far things are looking promosing).

Things are looking promising, and I don't think I could skip a Civ game anyway. Besides, I'm going to get it before the reviews come, oh, and I don't trust anyone with reviewing Civ games except Apolytoners.

And Civ is a very cheap hobby. Even if it turns out that Civ4 is not my thing exactly, I am going to complete several games, so it will be less than 1$ per hour played. Realistically, though, if it's any good, it's going to be far less than that.

I'll probably buy it, just because all the Civs have been great... but the « stunning 3D graphics » part somewhat scares me...

The python scripting I read about somewhere on the forum sounds really cool though (of course, running natively under Linux would be the most important but I don't expect much).

Why isn't there an option, "because I like to play it?"

I'll buy it because I loved playing cIv, cIIv and cIIIv.
If those 3 games are the games I loved most in my entire life, why would I not buy cIV?

This is what I was going to say.

In order to vote, I selected the first choice "because I have all the others..."

Because how will you know you will like it unless you have already bought it?
(I guess borrowing a copy or playing a demo would allow you to figure that out...)
