yeah...you would think with all the success of Civ 3 PTW and Conquests they would want to build on it by releasing another in the line. It would help more fans come into the game instead of one main game every 2-3 years. Think about Madden....every year we know another is going to come out and we all get excited but with Civ they've taken another route..i dunno

Well, civ has never been every year. Civ3 did have expansions one per year. But Civ4 will be a new game, and that takes more time to make. Just look at the timeline Civ1 - Civ2 - Civ3.

better let them take their time and make a good game then to hasten things up and get a sloppy game I always say

I doubt if it will be out anytime soon.

Maybe you get excited, but I sure don't. The idea of graphics which are 3% better than last year's version and new players isn't worth my $50 every year. CIV will be built from scratch, which, understandably, takes a little more time than updating a roster.

If Firaxis were to make another expansion for Civ 3 then CIV would be delayed for as long as they spent on the expansion. It's not as though they have infinite people to work on whatever they want. The Civ 3 code base was quite old and very difficult to work with, so Firaxis decided to start on CIV instead and make a better, more moddable game.

As far as a release date... think Fall-Winter of 2005.

To me, that doesn't seem to give adequate time for coding, bug fixing, play testing, civ balancing, fixing the bugs introduced during the balancing, etc.

                        I would rather say... 2005-2006

                            I'd actually prefer 2006.

Well I agree, made a good point about totally revamping the game. Not to sure how it would look if it was in 3D.
