Yes, the AI Project sounds pretty good. On the other hand Civ tradition implores me to want to have a space related victory condition - hence I still favour the Humans to Mars proposal as a victory condition.

That's why I proposed the A.I. project be a massive scientific aid to warlike victory. The Space Race would then be the peaceful way to win.

If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties. It's that fundamental belief -- I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper -- that makes this country work." - Barack Obama

Like most new technology, it can be put to either warlike or peaceful purposes. The AI project should be the same. Still, coudn't there be both?
How can you defeat an enemy which will never accept defeat?

2200, with getting complete control of and then TERRAFORMING MARS as the science victory.

It would be so much simpler to declare Scientific Victory when the last named tech has been reached. Does anyone really put anything into research when Future Tech is all that's left? Putting huge resources into space ship parts is just busy-work, especially since the graphics that go with building the composite are speculative.

My win of choice has always been Cultural, so I rarely get to research much of anything in the Modern Age. I'd like to see more helpful variations to the victory paradigm:

                1. Keep the victory options, but change Space to Science and drop Future Tech research.

                2. Add a Victory Year option to Game Setup, so you can pick the last year of play or leave it unspecified.

                3. (Most important to me) Keep score after winning one kind of victory, so you have a chance to expand play in another direction. Once the second victory criteria have been reached, AI will compare your score and, if better, replace your standing on the Leader Board. This may give you a chance to be known as something more respectful than "Ivan the Insipid."

Space isn't just science though. It's also industrial. And if need be, military to prevent another civ from completing theirs.

Maybe have a science victory option, but it can't replace Space.
