  • Multimaps?

For those of you familoiar with said Civ2 ToT feature, you know what I'm talking about.

For those not familiar with it, it goes like this:

In Civ2 ToT, you had the possibility to play on up to 4 maps. The maps were sort of 'layered' one on top of the other one, and certain terrain enhancements (and some units on their own) permited movement from one map to the other.

While the game rules were constant, all the data for the different maps (terrain values, including tile yelds and movecost, and the GFX for the terrains (but not cities and units) was unique for each map.

Besides, you could specify what maps each unit is allowed to go into.

Sort of like the orbit map in the original CtP (haven't played CtP2)

My question is, how feasible is this?

It appears that there are people who are working on multiple maps:

I tried to do something like in Civ2 ToT or Master of Magic where you have multiple maps and can switch beetween them. Well, it partially works but there are some issues I'm not motivated enough to remove them (if that's even possible). If you have some motivation (and C++ knowledge) to spare...

      Hmm... Interesting.

Now if only we could get rid of all that annoying, resource-hogging 3D crap, it might even prove playable without deep blue. sigh.
