  • Help with Game Display, Date Format (BC/AD vs BCE/CE)

It's just a pet peeve of mine, but after going through all the text XML files and changing BC/AD to BCE/CE, I would also like to change the date display in the upper right corner of the game screen to use BCE & CE.

Does anyone know where this code is? I haven't been able to find it in the usual XML places. Perhaps it is in the Python somewhere? Or maybe I just didn't look in the right XML file?

I would really appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

(In case anyone is curious and doesn't already know, BCE stands for "before common era," and is rapidly replacing BC for use in secular historical texts. CE stands for "common era" and is likewise replacing AD as the preferred format in intellectual circles. This is not a slur on Christianity or anything, I just prefer the secular date format.)

[Edited thanks to MMC's post below.]

    Found it. I think.

Lines 10966 through 10997 in CIV4GameTextInfos.xml. This file is found in the vanilla civ directories, not in the Warlords directories. I will now test.

    [EDIT: Yep, that did it!]

BTW, you got the meanings of secular and non-secular the wrong way around.

Touché. You are absolutely right. Thank you for pointing this out and I apologize for the mistake. [I will correct the original post.]
