  • Can't figure out how to mod warlords??

I modded civ iv fine. I was adapting my mod toi warlords now... and can't figure out how to even make it selectable. I placed in in the warlods/mods directory... it doesn't show up. I can't configure the warlords.ini to work either- added my mod into the liust there.... Why did everything have to change so drastically again...

    Anyone getting this to work?

I am going to approach my mod integration from a purely XML standpoint. I mean, I'm not going to try making a pluggable mod first thing. Once I figure out the relations of the vanilla XML files to Warlords, then I'll worry about the pluggable part.

I'm suspicious that simply moving Civ IV vanilla mods to the mod directory of Warlords won't work. As I said in my reponse to your post in the Warlords section, there is some kind of correlation to the vanilla XML files that isn't obvious at first glance. I think this relation might create problems for mods that are simply moved to WL.

OK. I'm not sure how helpful or relevant this is, but I figure involving you in my learning process isn't a bad thing. First, a screenshot:

It looks like Warlords (WL) uses the vanilla XML files unless they are "over-rided" by a file of the same name in the WL assets directory. For example, the orange underlined files are being used by WL while the duplicates are superceded by the WL files. OK, that's a start.

Now, just as a test I modded the original Civ IV Hints XML file and saved it in the Custom Assets directory of WL. WL used it in the 'pedia--my changes were represented there.

I'm beginning to believe the order of priority is something like this:
      1) WL Assets
      2) Vanilla Civ Custom Assets (??)
      3) WL Custom Assets
      4) Vanilla Civ Assets

The relationship between 3 and 4 is absolutely established. I think therefore I will proceed by using the WL Custom Assets directory.

      More later, I'm sure.

I updated all the files which related to my mods for vanilla civ. I got nothing but a slew of errors upon loading WL. Strange things are happening that don't make any sense to me; I must be missing something.

It looks like I'm going to have to start everything over completely from scratch.

What a pain in the ass.

        EDIT:
        Two questions.

        1) What the heck is the "LSystem" referred to in the new CIV4BnousInfos.xml file?

        2) It says not to remove bonuses "due to complications with the LSystem". Any reason to believe ADDING bonuses could also cause problems?

        Help.

i found that if you put the "civ4scheams" or what ever in the folder that your moding. such as "civ4techinfo" AND "civ4technologiesschema" then that file will load fine. im not shure if you will have to redo the warlords units but it will get it working
