how can i change the tech for the well?

hello,

please i would like to ask something!
i have download a lot of mods,one of them has the refining technology.thereofre,i want to change the tech that i can build a well.i have searched a lot the xml files,but i havent find anything!can someone has the good will to please show me the path to change the well construction from combustion to a tech that i desire?

Do you mean the oil well (as opposed to a water well which some people might have put in a mod)?

Since that is (I believe) a terrain improvement, similar to a mine or a farm, that would be the best place to start looking: '\Assets\XML\Terrain\Civ4ImprovementsInfo.xml'

EDIT: As it turns out, that is the right file. Lines 1030-1073 is where the land based Oil Well is defined, and lines 1074-1117 define the Offshore Platform.
These number may be different if you're looking at an already modified file, but it's a start.

Ok then. That would be 'Civ4BonusInfos.xml' in the same directory, lines 364-366.

Line 364 controls when the Oil is revealed.
Line 365 controls when the Oil can be used.
Line 366 controls when the Oil is obselete.

"the tech city trade"

and the "tech obsolete"

mean i should edit this file?
in all i have put the refining(a new tech i have added from a mod)and thats why i want to change the combustion.

Yes. You'll want to check the correct name of the new tech, otherwise you'll just end up with not being able to use Oil at all. If you're modifying a mod, I suggest you contact the mod author, unless you know what format they've used.
