  • [Mod] World 2100 (Taking on team members)

Hey everybody, as some of you may have seen the World 2100 scenario in the Civ3 Creation and Custimization Forums @ CivFanatcis.com a long while back, you would know that I discontinued the project. Well now that the SDK has been released I want to continue the project in CivIV. I have written a pretty detailed storyline for it, and don't no much CivIV modding, so I'll need some help. The storyline is in the quote. Below the storyline is jobs that are available.

2100- India and China have now both reached populations of 2,000,000,000 each. Both have been secretly building up and mobilizing their military right under the United Nations nose. In 2096 India is overpopulated and still has gained little land above the Hindu Kush Mountain Range, and realizes it's fate. Africa has been developing rather slowly and is still mostly tribal, due to recourses being depleted, and white governments moving out. In February of that infamous year, India invaded Northern Africa, taking the Eastern parts of the Sahara Desert, while, China realizing it's same fate, invades the Western Sahara. Even though the Sahara is bare, and the dessert has pushed only a little further in Africa, it was densely populated, and provided space for Indian and Chinese civilization. Many Indians and Chinese have migrated to the Sahara and have rapidly begun to industrialize it. The tribes on costal and northern Africa, have not united, but now have a common foe. Egypt has stood it's ground and is trying to talk the Middle East into an alliance with the rest of the North African countries.

South Africa has observed the takeover of Africa and has united with Germany to form the Aryan Revolutionist Party. The Party wishes to defend South Africa, but more importantly take advantage of the turmoil and start a European conquest.

The European Union still stands strong from its creation in the early years of the century
and now includes Italy, United Kingdom, Greece, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Pain, Portugal, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Estonia, France and The Netherlands.
The American government has finally lowered it's crime rate by introducing more ethical, Canadian ways. America and Canada have agreed to form the Freedom Coalition and keep their nations separate. With this the Freedom Coalition has agreed to help the European Union liberate Africa.

Australia and New Zealand have been pulled into this situation by the United Kingdom and have agreed to join an Alliance with the European Union. They have called themselves The Oceanic Commonwealth.

Middle Eastern countries and North African countries also fear Indian takeover and have formed their own front. Including Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen and Oman, the Middle Eastern Fraction has signed most of it's region, except for lone Israel. Indonesia has also been worked into the alliance because of it’s rapidly expanding Muslim population

Mexico still being an unstable government, has taken over most of Central America through a century of cartels. The Mexican Republic stretches from Mexico to Panama.

Columbia and it's drug cartels are fighting for The Panama Canal, still being a strategic waterway, and have gained Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana and northern Ecuador.

Brazil , Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru and Bolivia, have signed the South American Alliance and look to oppress the growing cartel.

After years in Nepal of the government fighting insurgents, it finally met it's fate and fell to due corruption in 2067. Just two years after the Indian government was being threatened by the new government and issue a coup d'état. It immediately worked but the new leaders provided to be even worse. Fate would have it that India would have to openly invade Nepal, while directing a large amount of it's forces of the Pakistani border. They were forced to call a cease-fire with Pakistan, and the cease-fire lasted from 2070-2096, one of the longest cease-fires between the two countries in history. Once India invaded Africa, Pakistan realized it could not find itself at the same fate of Nepal.

Bangladesh has found new power in it’s neighbor and has gave India mutual control over it’s land after many crushing natural disasters.

Vietnam, Loas, Cambodia, North Korea have formed the PAP (People’s Asian Power.) Because of the influx of Chinese entering the South East over the past 60 years, this made an alliance easier to form. This is an all Communist union, the main power/government is located in China, however China has not officially made itself part of the alliance. Because of the recent famine in North Korea, and it new power in China shots were fired along the South Korean border. Although a war didn't start, it did make South Korea join the E.A.A., even though it didn't want to join Japan. The PAP invaded Western Malaysia and took Singapore as practice for the rest of Asia. Propaganda around the world showed it as a peaceful invasion. With

Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Mongolia are mainly Buddhist, Capitalist States. They have formed the E.A.A. (Eastern Asian Alliance) out of fear of growing China. Eastern Malaysia has also joined since it is now weak from it’s defeat by China.

Out of fear, most former USSR countries have pleaded with Russia to re-annex them. Russia, looking for more land, has agreed and has annexed Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Latvia.

Turkey has also granted complete control of the Bosporus Strait (Straight of Dardanelles), one of the seven stratagetic waterways of the world. The Anglo-Saxon Federation needs to capture this straight at one point to ensure conquest.

The Suez Canal is currently controlled by the Middle Eastern Fraction. It is the second strategic waterway of the world, and must be defended to ensure that relations between Europe and the middle east are at status quo and the fraction will survive.

The Malacca Strait is controlled by the P.A.P currently. Being the third strategic, without this strait, China will be at the mercy of the rest of the world. If the strait is taken by any country China will have to call for a peace treaty and in turn stop all development in Africa. It is imperative that the PAP do not lose this strait for China and it‘s support. On the other side, the E.A.A. is on thin ice without this strait. In order to restore peace and survive, they must regain control of this strait, so oil shipments can continue without long travel.

The Strait of Hormuz is the fourth strategic strait. It is controlled by the Middle Eastern Fraction, but is of little importance unless costal cities of Iran, Iraq or Saudi Arabia bordering the Persian Gulf are taken by another civilization.

The Strait of Gibraltar is the fifth strategic strait and is controlled by Great Britain. Connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea it is the only way imports can be reached to Southern and Western Europe. Great Britain has granted permission of the European Union to defend and govern temporarily. This is another strait the Anglo-Saxon Federation must take to ensure conquest.

Bab’ el Mandeb is the sixth strategic strait of the world. It is controlled by the Middle Eastern Fraction. It is not as important as other straits but does provide a way for trade to reach Egypt and Middle Eastern countries faster and more efficiently.

The last strategic waterway of the world is the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal is currently controlled by the Mexican Republic, and is the only strategic waterway in the Western Hemisphere. Any nation controlling this controls all trade that travels from the east coast of the Americas to the west or vice versa. The Columbian Cartel is also looking to take this strait to aid their drug business further.

Please don't post with [MOD] in the title if you don't have any work done on the mod. There's a surplus of people with ideas for mods who are looking for people to do all the work for them, and you won't get much attention unless you've got more to show than a game concept.

      Cmon...

      Apartheid...

      Sweden, Pain, Portugal,
      They must have gotten hardcore!

First of all, Canadian ways? Second of all the countries are already seperate.

The Suez Canal is currently controlled by the Middle Eastern Fraction.
I'm glad that the Middle East has finally embraced grade school math.

Listen, like Badtz said, you first need to do some actual work on the scenario. No one wants to sign on to a project and shoulder all the work themselves for someone elses vision.

Second, spellcheck man. When floating a prospectus out you need to make sure your spelling is correct.

Third, do some research. This scenario is a hundred years off. China just decides to start a military campaign on the other side of the world? They must have built a tunnel that goes through the Earth's core because that logistics train would be pretty damn long. And what's all this about Turkey and the Bosporus strait? Why do they need to control it?

Yeah well a little realism with that imagination would help to make his scenario a reality.

I'm thinking there should be a sticky thread titled "Mod Idea Discussion" that could be used to concentrate this kind of clutter from the more useful threads. It could lead to some pretty fun discussion, for instance I think that one could make an awesome mod for CivIV based on Harry Turtledove's Worldwar series of novels (where an alien race invades Earth in the middle of WWII), but I know I'd never have the time or energy to actually make it. I'd still like to have a place to speculate about how one could do it, though.

Bah, sorry, I've been on a 56k in Florida (I currently live in New York) so I have had no time to reply to this. Sorry about the spellings, I copy and pasted the original file I had written instead of the corrected. Secondly I have already mapped it out. Third, I might change the Germany/South African bit, making them an alliance in a time of war, instead of an ethnocentric type thing. Lastly, countries can easily cover military campaigns. Especially China, who (what the CIA is now guessing) has a huge network if intelligence members that is probablly more powerful than the SAS or CIA/NSA. You have to remember Red China has always been pretty damn good about covering up there military actions (except tienamen '89 (?) ) India also has the power to move around military forces because there always at war with Pakastan. All they have to do is move their newly recruited troops to the northeastern border, and within a week they could get infantry sneaking out of their country to Africa. You must remember, the Sahara does not contain large armies, especially one's with armoured tanks.)

When I get back to New York on Saturday, I'll post a download link to a CivIV Scenario file that contains the map. I sitll need a mapper though to finish my work.

Why this scenario is creative, but not close to realistic.

#1. The sahara desert has practically no water, resources, way to maintain populations, or anything but rocks, bare dirt, and occasional sand dunes. It is rimmed by mountains to the north, seperating it from the coast. The only land that would be of any use would be a long mediterranean in the north, but not nearly enough land is there to be worth invading it just to reduce population density. Far more likely would be the caspian region boardering china already, or indochina. However, the population would need to raise significantly higher than 2 billion, with food imports either country can easily sustain that population now, let alone with another 100 years of farming technology.

#2. India could NOT move armored devisions, or armies at all for that matter without being detected via satellite. Assuming that this scenario assumes china is a super power, they could track all movement of indian forces. So could any western power, especially russia and the united states. Even with what would be outdated technology by the scenarios standards their movements would be detectable, and easily. As it stands today, egypt is one of the biggest military powers, even with somewhat outdated technology a force capable of attacking them at all would be OBVIOUS. A military of this size requires infrastructure, bases, boatloads of resources, all of which would be immediately detectable via satellite.

#3. Aryan... Need I say more.

#4. Sorry buddy, the crime rate wouldnt drop even a smidge adopting any of canadas laws (the few that are different from our laws, and that is truly few) Canada's liberal laws dont even effect the crime rate, Canada is homogenous, Canada has some 30 million people, whereas california alone is the same size, economically bigger, and far more diverse in the types of people who live there. There are many times more immigrants in the united states, there is much much more of everything in the US than there is in canada, including money, power, culture, you get the picture. If anything Canada is a parallel to the United States, with only a few exceptions.

#5. Strategic water ways? In 100 years an intercontinental space plane will have long been in service, allowing travel from New York to tokyo in 45 minutes. Already planes can carry enough goods to sustain a country the size of china, as was proven in world war 2, not even to mention that if china somehow did become powerful enough to need all the countries in the world in alliances against it, then obviously like any true super power they would have a navy so powerful no other navy would stand a chance. (Think soviet and american navies, then you can start to call a nation a super power, but not before.)

#6. Anglo saxxon fed... what have you been smoking? All there is to say on that.

#7. Why would India care to invade a mostly mountainous country with several million people for 'land'

#8. Bangladesh joining india because of a famine? Bangladesh is nearly entirely muslim, which is why it isnt part of india to begin with. This has never happened in modern times, either. Countries dont just 'join' other countries because of famine. If anything a war would break out, if it came to that, because obviously they had nothing left to lose at this point. Also there is no way that bangladesh wouldnt easily have several hundred million people at this point, because they currently have over one hundred million. They are no more poor than india, and there is no reason to think they wouldnt remain just as poor as india 100 years from now.

#9. You seem to be putting huge emphasis on land, when in reality land doesnt win wars, and neither do large numbers of people. It is possible for such things to help win, but whoever has the technology is the clear winner. Contrary to popular belief, having a large population can deter research because of the large amounts of people that need educated, the large education infastructures that need built, universities, universal education, china has NONE of that right now. The average person in china not adjusted for PPP makes $1500 a year right now, is uneducated, and lives in a tenement in a slum in an urban center. They work long weeks in terrible conditions for about 50 cents an hour. India is hardly better. There isnt nearly the money in china as there is in western countries, nor the resources per person, and educating all of these people may not even be accomplished in 100 years. China is virtually a slightly more stable version of the african continent by this standard, so assuming they can afford to fight a war overseas, pay for a military, gain a technological advantage, and maintain it with stats like this is such a far stretch its not even worth stating.

Well, a lot can change in 100 years, especially technology wise. I'm going to upload the map one day this week, but for now I'm going to lay off the production until the Age of Civilizations is finished.
