  • Request: fighter automation

Would it be possible to create a function/whatever that allows for fighter/bomber aircraft to be automated?

Civ3 had an automate option that let you bomb the same target overandoverandover again with one command.

What i'm really interested in is a RECON automation - each turn the same airplane recons the same square.

I'm using fighters as an early warning system off of my coast - I'm trying to spot transports with lots of troops on them BEFORE the soon-to-be enemy gets to close to my shore and declares war.

The only problem is, it really sucks sending 10 planes on recon missions each turn.

So... is there a potential solution?

Yes, an automated recon mission would be really nice. I miss the patrols from SMAC.

I agree totally that an automate feature should be available, but just for you own ends (recon around your coast), wouldn't a better answer be to simply invest a few turns into producing a homeland navy? At that point in the game, the line of site has been increased to the point that it would take relatively few ships to keep watch on your coast, and better yet, if you catch someone in the act, you can beat them to the punch and sink the transports. You would have to do a quick by-eye sweep of your coast every turn, but that seems a hell of a lot better than issuing 10 commands for fighters every turn.

        Good idea!

Would also be nice if you could select more than one air unit for bombing runs. I'm going to bomb them into the Stone Age anyways, why do I have to do it one bomber at a time?
