  • End of the World

This is something I've wanted for some time. But I don't realy know how to do it. I want asteroids crashing down destroying cities and changing the map. I want several turns when no cities produce food because of nuclear winter. I want desperate civs working thogeter to survive a 20 turn nightmare that could off course have been avoided if some short shighted politicians had built some city improvements ( nuke an asteorid anyone, spot it coming by building some observatorey's ).

    YOU can make it work.

    You can end the world.

Help me bring Armaggedon to cIV.

    Please.

    That rocks.
But if there's nothing you can do about the destruction, where exactly can a player show his skill and what do you imagine as victory conditions?

Sorry I had to leave yesterday.
I was quite in a hurry and I didn't have a chanche to explain it more fully ( kinda like now ).

The player would show his skill by either simply surviving or by dominating the other Civs at the end of this calamity. You could be a hippy, sing kumbaja and trade with other civs getting health resources and sharing your own ,wich would help as the food production but not the health would go up after turn 2-6 and sing permanent alliances to construct some sort of Noah's arc ( a victory condititon similar to the space race in wich you would construct an underground shelter where you could stack your citizens, resources and life-forms to rebuild civilisation after the situation improved).

        OR you could be mean

Attack the other Civ's for their technology ( I imagine a technology tree not too different from the current, except from a few not too futuristic techs and some post-apocalyptic ones that don't realy represent new technology but more of a new aplication of existing knowledge like smac's doctrine: initaitive stuff, but with better names ), resources and even take their shelters ( yeah let someone else do the work, I'm a barbarian I take what i can't make ).

And if you carfully read that quick post you will see that you could prevent the calamity or at least mild it down (construct observatory's to see the asteorid cloud coming, depending on how quick you are you may have time to construct a few interplanetary nukes to reduce the number of asteroids or to start constructing the arc). I'm thinking 20-40 turns ( random +- 20 ) before calamity on one of two maps ( one modern 21'st century Earth the other a fictional map with only strategy and "interesting decisions" in mind ) then 20 or more turns of calamity, then the early rebuilding years 40 or so if you didnt win already by constructing the arc, stoping the asteroids or killing the other weakend civs.

I had a similar idea where the world began another iceage and with the space race you could begin again on another planet, kinda like ToT was only...better, I obviously would have to give more thought to this idea

Well, there's this Icemod over on CivFanatics. Perhaps something can be done with that?

Let me see that mod before I get back to you.
Not seeing it yet is it a fictional map or a 21st century near future map?
I'm searching for a good modern map with as many civ's as possible and european countries relativley weak but in a permanent alliance ( to represent the EU ), a strong China and Indida possibly amid a world war or just a normal 21'st century map. Im still experimenting with various "intreresting decisions" map's any ideas on that topic are welcome.

Ahh and city names and stats as close to the real thing if possible. All posibility's please! I'll change most of the stuff that dosen't conform to the above. I'm wondering what to do with America ( strong or declining ) and the exact pover relationship betwen India and China AND what to do with africa the north will probably be Arabic but could I just round up the rest of the country's of Africa under a large but underdeveloped AU ( African Union known as Mali to cIV players ). I want some realism and playability (but will not sacrifice the latter ).
