Hello,
My first civ4 post: wicked! I'll heap praise on the designers elsewhere, this is a modding forum. I had an idea and I'm curious about feedback.
Growing forests: the basic mechanic already exists for cottages, so why not plantable forests? At game start, all forests could be 'old growth' and choppable for the full amount of sheilds.
Once workers could plant trees (or the forest spread), the forest would be at a younger level that made chopping it give no sheilds. With a long enough growth rate (with working or without, whatever), they could mature into the full version.
This would make people who like forested empires (like me) happy, and make it unexploitable for the choppers. Perhaps lumbermills could increase the growth rate... I don't know if it's feasible, but what do you think of the idea?
