  • Culture: rock, paper...

    Rock paper scissors.

Going to extreme on one side will form a specialization which (in times of weakness) can be an Achile heel. Of course it's simplistic and more a fun way of looking at things. But a rock-paper-scissors has some good aspects when it comes to culture influence, and is pretty game-oriented.

No idea if it's possible, but it could be as simple as can be and game-oriented: specialization of a culture in three r-p-s ways. Let's say rational beats practical beats mystic beats rational (it's just an example, not too reality-based and which seemingly could go vice versa). Or just a specialization in a way or another.

The is directly taken from somewhere I stumbled on without even looking for anything Civ-related.

Hope it arouses some interest for some of you, and maybe it's even feasible. Let the culture wars begin! (or not)

That "Somewhere" is indeed an interesting read.
"Terrible news, Sire: the Maori have built a spaceship"
    Bwahahahahahah hahahahah.

To go ontopic. It would be interesting if different cultures actually clashed. Like if you had a Library, Theatre and Monastary in the city, you wouldn't get the full amount of culture. You'd get the MOST culture by focusing on just one of religion, science or arts. Religious Meccas and such.
