      North America Preview A

This is a preview of North America.
I still need to add desert areas and resources. There are a lot of rivers. I need to add the Rockies but I have hills as place holders.

Are you going to release it with civlizations in it already or just as empty map?

          Thrust,
I was planning to release it with 18 civs placed.

I am curious in knowing if there are any preferences as too which leaders I choose to add though and why.

          Do you like the map?

              There's already a standard-sized map of Earth I think.

                E,
The total number of civ's shouldn't be a problem. Right now it is only loading random civs that a huge map would have. So adjusting the number shouldn't be too bad. I'm still testing the memory requirements. My new graphics card let's me use the woldbuilder now.

                Geomodder,
Well This isn't quite standard size.

If this map is playable, I'm thinking of making an even bigger map at 256 x 128.

I applaud your dedication, but I'm not sure what it is that you're trying to accomplish. How does this map differ from the one included in the game?

                    TomVeil,
Well, I wanted more space and a fairly accurate map. My map is a lot bigger than "Huge" size (128x80). My map is 200 x 100. I scanned a two part world atlas and cropped it and re-sized it in Paint shop. I turned on the grid so that one square in Paint shop would be one square in Civ4. I've had to do a few minor modifications for game play purposes but for the most part it is a direct atlas copy.

Ah, OK. That is a good reason. I look forward to playing it when I ditch my crappy laptop for a new computer that can handle those big maps.
Ooh, and don't forget to make both coal and iron available in Western Pennsylvania. A lot of the Civ3 mapmakers failed to do that, and it always drove me nuts.

Put a land resource in New Zealand please .

                        Furs and/or Coal would work.

Okay, My old developer forum is in the process of going up.

                          The forum is here:

I really want to finish this map and start to work on the scenario for it. If anyone wishes to help will find most of the info there as soon as I can get the forums organized.

I will still be available here to answer feedback and to post updates.

                          TomVeil,
You wish should not be a problem. I'm still trying to locate a natural resources map though.

                          Blake,
I have a new team member, Emperor (aka Lord Parkin) who is from New Zealand. I'm sure he will be able to grant your wish.

I want to thank everyone who has replied and given me feedback.

I will brutally maim anyone who forgets to put an Iron resource in NE Minnesota and a Wheat resource by the Red River of the North.
