  • Can cities be built closer?

Is it possible to mod the 2-space distance between cities in civ4? - to one space, maybe even no spaces at all? Or is this limit hardcoded until the SDK?

in XML/GlobalDefines.xml there's a number there that changes the minimum city build distance. You can change it to whatever number you desire, but it's suggested you stick it in the _CustomAssets/XML folder.

Why would you want cities closer?
"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

Scenarios for example... some cities are really close, expecially in the USA.

I find in scenarios, it can be very limiting, if you want to place cities as accurately as possible.

Can any of you take a qualified guess as to what this may mean to siege weaponry? - Not sure if the game is smart enough to figure out what to do in case one has two cities next to a catapult.

You dont need to modify the XML to plop cities right next to each other via the worldbuilder though, if you just wanted to do that.

How do you do that precisely? I fiddled around with the worldbuilder a bit, but I didn't find any way to add cities yet...! I can't figure it out!

EDIT : Nevermind, figured it out searching a bit around for the info. I'm learning!! It's under the player editor!
              Thanx for the pointer!

Just FYI, it seems siege weaponry just takes their pick, if more than one city with a defensive bonus is within range - not sure if it always picks the one with the largest bonus, but this could also be the case.
