One thing I've always found incredible dull, is the research once you've hit Future Techs.
Thus my suggestion is for a mod, that introduce a varity of Future Techs along the following lines:
Future Tech - Culture: +1 culture / turn.
Future Tech - Economy: +1 gold / turn.
Future Tech - Growth: +1 food / turn.
Future Tech - Health: +1 health
Future Tech - Military: +1 exp to new military units, upon creation.
These bonuses would affect all cities of the researching civilization, and be cumulative.
The desired effect would be, that it still makes sense to keep your research going once you hit the end of the research tree ( It's not like it stops making sense to reseach new technologies ).
What's important is, that the cumulative bonuses don't become overwhelming right away, but that they still allow for "Interesting Choices" during the endgame.
