Okay, I admit it. I'm behind the times and ride the XML shortbus....
There are a few things I'd like to edit/mod but frankly everytime I try everything blows up on me in the game, I've never been a good programmer or editor type .
First is it possible to have more than 6 religion types?
religion I find to be the nicest new influence but since we start at way back in the history machine I'd like to give the religions that didn't quite make it a chance in game.
What I've tried to do is collapse Christianity, Islam, and Judaism into one Monotheistic religion since all 3 owe homeage to the same basic principle and faith, despite the differences that have grown over the centuries.
Taosim and Confuciousism I'm trying collapse into a single eastern religion.
Hinduism I've left alone because it's very different than the others.
The three new religions (and I use the term loosley in one case)
Secularism, or humanism. Not really a religion but a viewpoint outside of religion.
Northern Polytheism, the religions of the Celts, Nordic and Germanic peopels.
And finally Aegiatic Polytheism which is a relative congolmerate of the Greek, Egyptian, Sumarian and Roman religions since they hold common ground.
If a seventh or eight is possible I'd include
Pacifica Polytheism...
for the 8th Nativia, which would be a religion based around that of the America's...
I'd like to give each group an advantage as well.
For example Northern polytheistics military units come into the world with +1 experience.
Secular gets a +5% research bonus in those cities
Aegatic polytheism gets a +5% cultural bonus
Hinduism +5% agricultural gains
the Eastern relilgions +5% population growth
The Monotheistic +5% building bonus.
Or something along those lines.
A well managed Free religion empire could balance it's cities for maximum effect, a closed society could excel in certain areas while lagging behind, etc.
Is what I'd like to do possible?
Is there some poor soul that would either give me aid in accomplishing it? or doing it? sorry I'm a programming loser but I'd like to see more depth in this part of the system.
