Looking for towards a song of ice and fire mod. The books are great.
I think that you should target it to be a scenario/mod for singel player originally, and then if that is successful try to adapt it to multiplayer.

      Feet,

      On the hostage issue:

So here's how I am viewing the idea.... and feel free to use it, just give me some acknowedgement.
      ----
      Unit Jaime Lannister...

If Unit Jaime Lannister is "killed" by House X.

THEN unit "Hostage Jaime Lannister" is created--owner=House X.

IF "hostage Jaime Lannister" is "killed" by House Y [house y=any house], then unit "Hostage Jaime lannister" changes ownership.

HOWEVER, the tech requirement for Hostage Jaime Lannister =none.

Tech requirement for Unit Jaime Lannister = House Lannister technology...

So, The hostage unit can be upgraded to non-hostage ONLY by house lannister. However, any house can capture/control the hostage unit.

Also, since the hostage is a unit, it can be given away in exchange for something.

What is needed to make this work:
An event to create Hostage unit.
Two specific units; one military, one worker-like---it does not defend and can change hands.
Technology that allows hostage X to be upgraded to X.

Does all that make sense? At some point I will need to see if I can make the above happen, but if you can do it before me, then I will just learn from what you did and thank you for the help.

Have you guys thought about representing Daenerys/Dothraki as a barbarian nations? Perhaps similiar to how Dale is handling the native american tribes in his Age of Discovery scenario.

Also, I think the hostages idea is great. Defintely adds some of the flavour from the books. The idea could even be extended some to include wards. So if two factions sign a peace treaty, they could be given an option to each take a ward of the other faction. If they do take wards, then the alliance is stronger (perhaps represented by a slight commerce increase?) and each now has a new hostage unit. If they do not take wards, the factions would not get the additional commerce bonus.
