Default Starting Color

How can I change the default color my Civ starts with?

edit the CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml file in the /assets/xml/civilizations folder.. But I would recommend copying it first to the /my docs/my games/civ4/customassets folder first to keep the original intact.

Be sure to give people at least an hour in the future to respond.. no need to get hasty

First, make a list of all the civs you want to change and what color you want them to be (by listing the civ that has that color).

Second, look for

>DefaultPlayerColor>PLAYERCOLOR_DARK_GREEN>/DefaultPlayerColor>

in each civilization's area of the file. Its easy to tell what area you're in because it says the name of the civ like 10 times above this line, most specifically on the line that says

>Type>CIVILIZATION_ARABIA>/Type>

Now you can find what colors the game uses for each civilization and just switch them around in the -defaultplayercolor- lines under each civ's name.

note: the code lines aren't exact because both XML and HTML use < and > to surround their commands.

note2: right click the XML and choose 'edit' or 'open with' and open it with notepad. (edit does that automatically)
