  • Request: Autorun mod

The request is for a mod that would allow starting up games with no human players or at least games where no human involvement like pressing end turn is necessary.

I am sorry if this is actually somewhere in the game or on the forum and I just havent found it.

There have been observations that there are always winners and losers among AI-s. In the future people will want to implement mods that change the AI playing styles or perhaps the economy model somewhat. In order to identify problems in these cases it would be nice to have the option of autorunning games as it takes too frigging long to reach the modern age. Even better if it would allow patch processing so that you can leave consecutive games running for the night and analyse the results the next day.

I personally would probably want to run a test to see what strategies are best implemented by the AI. EG give all AI-s same traits (intustrious, economic, military, whatever) and see which personalities have supperior playing skills on a level playingfield. And later vice-versa.. try to identify which traits are best used by the AI. Reason being that several AI-s seem to be crippled to a degree at this point by their peronality that always leads them into trouble.

I believe this is already doable, although I forgot how to do it. I do know you need the cheat code entered in the INI, though.

Thank you for replying. I will look into threads dealing with the ini file. Hopefully it will be flexible enough to allow what I described above.

I got what I was looking for from CF. Here is the reply:

There is already a debug mode in the game.
        1) Cheatcode = Chipotle must be set in CivilizationIV.ini
        2) Press Ctrl-Z --> you can see the whole map
Then you have to open the game console (hit `) and type "Game.AIplay x" x=number of turns.
