I am trying to create a Wheel of Time scenario. I mae many many maps and scenarios for Civ3 some of which were used in large tournaments, so I am not new to this (I also have made map mods for games like RTW and other difficult to mod games)
Is it just me or are the scenario creation tools for Civ4 vastly worse than the ones for Civ3? I have read quite a few threads in here and am still having trouble even making a map (not to mention the fact that I cannot even save it as a map without setting the Difficulty and civilizations etc.)
In Civ3 making the map would have taken maybe 3 or 4 hours if I wanted to do a good job. It was super easy and straightforward. Some of the setup tools for civilizations etc. required a bit of practice and knowledge, but making a map was as easy as could be.
I have been futzing with various utilities and the world buidler for several nights in a row now and have made no progress? Everytime I try to modify coastline the new land looks sunken and there are no grid numbers for making accurate plots, moreover saving reloading/buffering etc. is a real pain.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I just need to forget about this for a few months until there is some fan based mapmaking tools they doesn't make it a struggle just to make a damn map.
