  • Question about an editor

I remember the civ 3 editor that allowed to customize the game to suite own preferences.

I see in this forums too many Civ IV features that I personally dislike and an editor could suit my needings.

Does it exist inside civ IV or do I have to wait for a good mod after the patch ?

    Thanks

Do either or both of these:

    • Learn Python and how to construct and read well-formed XML.

    • Wait for the SDK to come out in January.

What evizaer said, but with some explanation:

I don't know what the editor was like in Civ3, but in Civ4 you edit outside the game. The files you can edit are in a directory called Assets. You can use a text editor like Notepad to change them, BUT **you have to know what you're doing**. Files with the .xml extension are in a format called XML and store variables that affect game play. Files with the .py extension are in a language called Python and contain some of what the game does.
