oh man, I appear to be on a flow of writing down a "things I wish list".

in civ III there was a lot of pollution caused and in some ways it affected terain changes. It was very limited to my experience since every once in a while a random tile would degrade....

I noticed in civ IV that you can zoom out to global view in order to see clouds moving. Wouldn't it be nice to have natural disasters happening such as earth quakes hurricanes and tornados which depending on region and how environmental the world is could damage reasonable sizes of landscapes, destroying several improvements, primarily affecting towns and villages, farms and mines, etc...

A rising of the water level and melting of the ice caps, endangering coatal tiles and cities (with exception of those that have a flood protection building or wonder that builds this in every coastal city of that civ or team).

A unique technology such as advanced meterology would allow to predict disasters several turns before they happen. Hurricanes could be moving, generating in oceans moving towards continents, sometimes fading away before they cause damage sometimes devasting an area, hurting population and units on land.

Naval units caught in hurricanes (a hurricane should be several tiles big and move quite quickly, lasting for say 5 rounds) could either sink or take damage (depending on the type of unit, its experience and a random combat check giving it a percentage chance of survival or sinking).

In addition this feature could be a "game balancer" since the likliness of such an event happening to you increases on how powerful you are. That way a very advanced nation could be brought back to level with waeaker ones.

Unfortunately I have to admit that I am no modder and hence can't graphicly animate or code any complicated feature, but I enjoy dreaming up concepts and sharing them with people, regardless of how realistic, useful or possible they are

    hello

i agree with u.your idea is indeed good.i wonder if anyone has forgot all natural or not accidental things that happen to your civilization(floods, fire, volcanoes, being plunder).tornadoes, hurricanes and epidemics could indeed added,i dont know how.
with a few words i expected the WEATHER effect to be added.the civ iv is too large, therefore it could accomodate phenomainoms of that sort(like empire earth 2).too bad didnt see this....
