  • Strategic resource bug or feature?

Say you have stone as a strategic resource. Go into a town that doesnt actually have stone in its fat cross (this is especially apparent for new cities in the early game). If you are border-connected to the rest of the empire, or have built a road, you'll see that stone is listed as a resource for the city. If you mouse over it, you'll see a tooltip that says "+1 hammer". Wellll, if you count the number of hammers in the fat cross, it adds up to exactly the number of hammers your city is currently producing.

So what gives? Graphics bug? Gamecode bug? Not a bug? I really think you should get bonuses empirewide for those strategic resources (obviously you get smileys when you pick up the trade resources..)..sounds like a mod to me.

    Screenshot with relevant details attached.

And please.. before the forum nazis attack saying this should go in the bug thread over in general, or whatever.. I am proposing this more as a correctional mod than anything else.. I seriously do not expect Firaxis to take an interest in soft bugs like this anytime soon.

For what I've understood if you have in the list of the city resources an icon that gives a food/gold/hammer bonus but the tile in which the resource is it's not in the "fat cross" of that city you can use it only for building purpose (like speeding a world wonder that uses it). The only city that gains the food/gold/hammer bonus is the one that has it in the "fat cross".

However, if the bonus the resource gives is a happy face or a "red cross" healty icon, the bonus is shared in all your cities connected with roads or rivers or harbors.

I noticed this as well. As it stands, strategic resources really ought to give a production bonus like they say they do. I've taken it upon myself to give this production bonus in my mod. However, my mod doesn't give a flat +1 hammer per resource, as that would encourage ICS. Instead, the bonus is +5%, which makes strong cities even stronger.
