is it possible to change the tile grafics?

The problem is: The screen is filled with all this flashy colors. That makes it hard to distinguish units from the environment. So i want to change the color balance in order to drain a bit of color from the environment grafics in order to have the units stand out from the screen.

Does anyone know how i can do this or where to find the relevant files?
