Is there any easy way to change the names of all the religions? I like the addition, but I like to have my worlds feel more.. fantasy.. generic. Would it be posible to re-name the religions to more generic non-real world names?

I checked the religions spread sheet, but it scared me away. It seems like maybe I'd need to edit a LOT of stuff for such little gain.

I really wish if you founded a religion, you got to name it.

Ah.. that would have been a better system I think. Each AI empire has a list of names they like to give (culturally linked) if they manage to start one. As a player, you could either just use your default list of religion names, or just name your own. Although THAT would be imposible to mod.

If you just want to do this, then go to ..\Assets\XML\Text in one of these *.xml files there you find the names of the religions.

Of course for that you have to replace the icons as well. That seems to be part of ..\Assets\XML\GameInfo\CIV4ReligionInfo.xml, possibly you would like to alter the CivPedia (well they should call it Great Library like in CTP2 - has better atmospere).

I don't know weather this is impossible to mod, however this is more difficuilt to mod than the first thing.

Another part of modifying or adding religions is altering the /Assets/Res/Fonts/ gameFont files to get the religions' icons to show up by the city names in the world view. That's something I'm working on but am having problems with at the moment.

If I have understand it correctly you have to connect these little icons with that additional pixel as it is done with the existing one.

Ah, yes, unfortunately my current editor (Photoshop 8) doesn't show those special pixels. Anybody know of a good editor for TGAs?

After trying out various programs I have at work, I found that Macromedia Fireworks actually shows the pink grid with cyan "special pixels". I couldn't get these to show up with Photoshop 8 and even the gimp didn't show it on the targas that came witht the game. The Gimp showed the grid and special pixels with the Greek World mod, but photoshop 8 didn't. Still don't have it working quite yet, but, I am graphicaly illiterate so no supprise there :P

I used Paint Shop Pro 4 to open the *.tga's, so no problem on the first glance. It wouldn't surprise me if Photoshop 8 could display these pixels as well.
