One thing Rome total war had that I thought was neat, were marks on the ground to point out historic battles. Maybe when you jouse over it it tells when it happened, those involved, the outcome, # dead. Is this sort of thing at all possible?

If you really want you can use the strategy layer to make signposts at the special sites. Besides, I'm not sure how the computer would know what is worth a marker.

perhaps battles that involve a certain number of units, gradualy getting larger over time. Or perhaps an upset, or the first battle of a war. The ideas are limitless but it would add to some awesome history to be walking around with some soldiers in the year 1960 at the place that your first warrior battled someone in 3000BC or so. I dunno, i liked that about Rome: Total War.

You could probably have it done automatically through Python but it would take some know-how.
