Tech Speed

Is there a way to generally slow down the rate in which techs are researched? It would be nice if there was a single global value that could be tweaked instead of adjusting each tech individually. Any help is greatly appreciated.

've seen a few mods out there that already address this, but they also add in a few other minor changes - while I'm sure these other changes are meant to improve the game in some way, I'm still on my first few games of CIV, and would like to play the game as is without making too many changes

Well, I'm no modder unfortunately so the work is not my own. But I tried using dearmad's Slower Tech+Balance mod. In the "Slower Tech+Balance" mod directory, go in the "Assets" folder & then into the "XML" folder & finally into the "GameInfo" folder. Open the "Civ4GameSpeedInfo.xml" with windows wordpad. You'll see all capital entries (helps to find them as nothing else is in all caps really) for the different game speeds. The entries look like : (replace the { and } with < and > since that's what's in the file. The forum deletes it when I use <> for some reason).

Beneath each gamespeed heading is

{iResearchPercent}150{/iResearchPercent}

The 150 happens to be the epic entry but you can change it to what you like. The higher the setting, the slower tech is reseached. Change this value for each gamespeed you plan on playing. Hope this helps & good luck all.
