I dont understand why it is coded that way it is. Why must you use absolute adress when you made the command that open the console?

On a Swedish system the shift + ö opens the console.

Please stop shouting, it hurts my ears. You will gain more friends if you lose the capslock key. Thank you, we will now return you to your regular readings.

How can I get this python console to show?

I am using a laptop with a belgian azerty keyboard layout, and I tried all keys, even all keys + SHIFT, all keys + fn, all keys + SHIFT and fn, ... but nothing showed up.

I filled in some random text in the .ini cheatcode, but when I type that, nothing happens either (except for the selected units starting to follow my commands)

I have also downloaded and installed python from www.python.org, because I figured that might have been the problem, but this didn't help either.

Another problem is, I can't find any log files of civ4. Should I change something in the ini for this to work, or do something else ? (I look in the Logs directory in civ4 folder in My Documents, it's empty)
            no sig

The cheat code is chipotle. You never enter it in the game, you just set cheatcode=chipotle in the ini and then you can use the console. So do this first and then try different key combinations to bring up the console.

As for the logs, I think you need to enable logging in the ini file also.

              Good luck,
              Daniel

OK, I just tried this on my system by giving Saladin Agriculture by pasting the following into the CIV4CivilizationInfos file in the techs section for Saladin:

                < FreeTech >
                < TechType >TECH_AGRICULTURE< /TechType >
                < bFreeTech >1< /bFreeTech >
                < /FreeTech >

This then showed on the Faction selection screen as correct, as well as when I accessed the tech tree after starting up the game.

So, if you did the same as above for your faction of choice then this shouln't be the problem. One other item: are you trying to change a starting tech for a Faction in a game already in progress (including a mod)? If so then this won't work, as "discovered" techs are included in the save file. Hope this helps!
